In Q2 of this year, the Transport Administration registered 385 aviation-related occurrences. As in the first quarter, no aviation accidents or serious incidents occurred in the second either.
"A second consecutive quarter has passed without aviation accidents or serious incidents, and that is certainly good news. It is also gratifying that aviation organisations are actively reporting occurrences — it is precisely this kind of information that allows us to assess the risk picture more accurately and to identify possible weak points in good time," said Margit Markus Moossen, Head of the Safety and Management System Department of the Transport Administration's Aviation Division.
However, according to Markus Moossen, the reporting culture among private and recreational pilots needs improvement; rule violations on their part are usually reported to the Transport Administration by Lennuliiklusteeninduse AS (Estonian Air Navigation Services).
Most Q2 occurrences were safety occurrences with no immediate impact. The absence of aviation accidents and serious incidents is a positive result and reflects the continued strong safety culture of Estonia's aviation sector. Occurrence reporting by aviation organisations is at a good level.
In its Q2 aviation safety review, the Transport Administration has covered all occurrences reported during the period 1 April – 30 June 2026 that have been entered into the European central database ECCAIRS2.

The Transport Administration monitors the aviation safety situation continuously and works on the early mitigation of risks so that Estonian aviation remains in line with both national and international requirements.
