No aviation accidents or serious incidents in Estonia in the first quarter of 2026

In Q1 2026, the Transport Administration registered 288 aviation-related occurrences, which is 30 fewer than in the same period in 2025. No aviation accidents or serious incidents occurred in the first quarter.

Most Q1 occurrences were safety occurrences with no immediate impact. The absence of aviation accidents and serious incidents is a positive result and reflects the continued strong safety culture of Estonia's aviation sector.

"The absence of aviation accidents and serious incidents in Q1 is good news, but the real value of a safety review lies in the open and consistent reporting of all occurrences — including minor ones. It is precisely this reporting data that allows us to act preventively and to spot trends in good time," said Margit Markus Moossen, Head of the Safety and Management System Department of the Transport Administration's Aviation Division.

In its Q1 aviation safety review, the Transport Administration has covered all occurrences reported during the period 1 January – 31 March 2026 that have been entered into the European central database ECCAIRS2.

According to Margit Markus Moossen, the work of the Transport Administration's Aviation Division is largely based on input received from the sector, and reporting culture plays an important role here. The Transport Administration's website offers a simple web form for reporting: Reporting an occurrence affecting aviation safety | Transpordiamet.

Reports can also be submitted directly via the European central database ECCAIRS2: ECCAIRS 2 Central Hub | Home

To ensure aviation safety, the Transport Administration carries out continuous oversight and works on risk prevention so that Estonian aviation meets both national and international requirements.
