Over the past several years, in-person visits to the Transport Administration’s service bureaus have decreased significantly. In 2015, the bureaus received around 585,000 visitors, whereas by 2024 the number had declined to 278,000. The downward trend continues — in the first half of this year, visits dropped by a further 18 percent compared to the same period last year.
Despite the decline in in-person visits, the overall volume of services provided by the Transport Administration remains high. In 2024, clients completed over 950,000 transactions, all of which are available both at service bureaus and via the e-service portal. Notably, 87 percent of all transactions were completed online. Most client services can be conveniently accessed digitally — a faster, more affordable, and environmentally friendly alternative to visiting a service bureau. Using e-services also offers customers a reduced state fee and saves both time and resources by allowing transactions to be completed from home.
These developments have prompted the Transport Administration to review and adjust bureau opening hours, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and service quality remains high. Alongside serving walk-in clients, bureau staff are increasingly engaged in activities that support e-services, such as printing and dispatching registration certificates following online ownership changes, and responding to written inquiries and applications.
All 17 service bureaus will remain open but will operate with adjusted hours. Updated information on opening times is available on the Transport Administration’s website.
